NYCC 21: It’s Scottober on comiXology, with a trio of Scott Snyder originals

Happy Scottober. Of course, that’s a reference to comics writer Scott Snyder, who’s got three new books arriving on comiXology this month.

So is it also Skottoberfest?

Are you a comics fan? Have you read anything in the last… decade? Or so? Well, if you have, then you have a good chance of knowing the name “Scott Snyder”. A writer, Snyder made a huge name for himself with DC Comics’ New 52 event, which saw him take up the mantle of the Bat along with artist Greg Capullo. In a time when DC was making waves, some good and some bad, their Batman was a monthly can’t-miss standout.

Now Snyder is heading into the creator-owned space, and doing so in style with comiXology. The online reading platform will play host to three new titles from the scribe this month, including first issues for We Have Demons, Clear, and Night of the Ghoul.

Boo

“October has been deemed “Scottober” at comiXology Originals,” says Chip Mosher, comiXology’s Head of Content. “With the arrival of We Have Demons featuring widescreen action and the kinds of jaw dropping storytelling twists that have made Snyder and Capullo the bestselling creator duo of the last 25 years, followed by Clear Snyder’s first noir thriller and Manapul’s first ever creator-owned book, which is a dazzling, sci-fi thrill ride into a strange dystopian future, and in the lead up to the most terrifying night of the year, Snyder and Francavilla—two modern masters of horror—collaborate for the first time with Night of The Ghoul, a bold and bloody reimagining of monsters that celebrates classic creature features.”

As you can see there, there are a few big takeaways from this one. For starters, all of these books will be hitting print at a later date, via a special publishing deal with Dark Horse Comics. And secondly, We Have Demons teams Snyder once again with Capullo. If you’re a fan of what they did with Batman, that’s got to be a title worth checking out.

We Have Demons #1 (of 3) will arrive on comiXology tomorrow (October 5th). After that, look for Clear #1 (of 6) on October 12th, and Night of the Ghoul #1 (of 6) on the 19th.

So where’s NYCC come in?

New York Comic Con, happening in-person this week, will play host to Snyder as well. He will be doing a panel-like chat, as well as two signings at the comiXology booth… with Greg Capullo. Again, if you’re a fan, that’s kind of a big deal.

And if you’re heading to the show, here’s what the schedule looks like:
