Activision is about to pull back the curtain on the latest Call of Duty. This time it’s back to the battlefields of WWII, for a title dubbed Vanguard.
We do it together
What is Call of Duty: Vanguard? Well, what we know as of now is that it’s the next installment in the Call of Duty franchise. As you’ll see in the teaser below too it’s set to take the action back to the blood-soaked fields of Europe, in WWII.
As to what this new game has in store beyond that, we’re not so sure. From the first look that we have here, we get glimpses of the 4 main heroes that the game will offer. But there’s a little bit of a twist to that.
The tag line, presumably delivered by the game’s focal character, says that “Whatever we do, we do it together”. So, with that in mind, is Vanguard a squad-based FPS? Or does it just jump around between leads, like every other game in the set?
If it’s the former, that’d be a pretty big shift for CoD. Would it play with fans, is the question. Remember, this is a series that’s known for it’s fast and well-crafted FPS action, not squad tactics and co-op play (presuming).
We’ll find out either way pretty soon. The official reveal for Call of Duty: Vanguard is this week, on August 19th at 10:30 am pacific time. But if you were expecting a simple trailer, think again.
The reveal will take place within the Battle of Verdansk. Yep, it’s an in-game reveal, that’ll allow gamers to “experience the worldwide reveal of Call of Duty: Vanguard live in-game”.
So hop on for that. In the meantime, here’s the world’s first look at Vanguard:
