Marvel to debut new Defenders team this summer

It’s time once again for a little defense. Marvel Comics is busting out the Defenders name once again for a fresh series, though who’ll be in it is a mystery.

A second tier superhero squad from Marvel’s deep bench, The Defenders used to be a mainstay. That hasn’t been the case for a while though, as the team has shifted rosters and appeared and disappeared regularly as of late.

Cover by Javier Rodríguez

Well, it’s apparently their time once again, and form the looks of it, we might be in for a much more classic Defenders this time around. Not that Marvel has revealed the team in its entirety, because it hasn’t.

Instead we get a teaser image, of a cover that has Doctor Strange and Masked Raider on it. It’s a very cool little cover though, from artist Javier Rodríguez, that looks like it’d fit right in with some of the publisher’s classics.

We also get a hint at who might be on the final team too, as there are number of Marvel heroes shown on the Doc’s cards. Hulk, Moondragon, Namor, Silver Surfer, and Beast are all classic Defenders, and would fit right in on a modern version of the team.

As it is, we won’t have too long till we find out who’s going to heed Doctor Strange’s call to action. The Defenders is set to debut not he racks this summer.
