PS+ freebies for October ’20 include Vampyr and NfS Payback

Take a bite out of PlayStation Plus’ free games for October 2020 with a little Halloween action in Vampyr. Or you could race in Need for Speed Payback. I guess.

The PS+ selection of games for this month strikes me as somewhat of an odd choice. Yes, there’s Vampyr, which is definitely a horror-themed game, and very much appropriate for October’s Halloween flavor. But Need for Speed Payback?

In any event, Vampyr should be more than enough to keep horror fans busy. Released about 2 years back, Vampyr is essentially an action-RPG, and a pretty unique one. The game casts players as a doctor that’s been recently turned and finds himself a vampire, with all of the trappings thereof. Throwing a monkey wrench into things though, is that the storyline sets the adventure in the time of the Spanish Flu. So the world is in dire need of doctors and death is everywhere. Interesting stuff.

Between that and the action-y racing of Payback, it’s not too bad of a month. Here’s a look at the PlayStation Plus subscriber-exclusive freebies for this month in action:
