Dark Horse to build Apex Legends lore with new book

A popular online multiplayer shooter, Apex Legends doesn’t exactly bristle with story elements. And that’s one thing that Dark Horse is aiming to fix.

Legendary lore

It’s made a splash since it’s debut, scoring some 70 million players. At this point, the free-to-play Apex Legends has made itself a staple of the gaming universe, across both consoles and the PC. But while all of that’s great, what about the story?

Now, I know what you’re thinking. And yes, Apex Legends does indeed have a backstory. Set in the Titanfall universe, the game just doesn’t take advantage of that backstory… pretty much at all. But that’s one missing element that fans are about to see a lot more of, thanks to Dark Horse Comics.

The publisher has officially announced Apex Legends: Pathfinder’s Quest. A new book that will serve as a field guide to the characters and universe that Apex Legends offers.

Fans will be able to explore the world of the hit game through the eyes of the lovable robot, Pathfinder, as he chronicles his journey throughout the various environs of the Outlands to interview his fellow Legends—all in the hope of finally locating his mysterious creator. In Apex Legends: Pathfinder’s Quest, the rich history of Apex Legends is explained by the characters that helped to shape it, as are their unique bonds of competition and camaraderie.

Clocking in at 190 pages, Apex Legends: Pathfinder’s Quest lands in stores this December the 2nd. The book will run you $39.99 USD, and you can pre-order a copy from AmazonBarnes & Noble, or your local comic shop.
