Real-time strategy comes to Switch with Ancestors Legacy

Sharpen your axe and get ready to wage war across Middle Ages Europe in Destructive Creations’ RTS Ancestors Legacy on the Nintendo Switch.

Have at them

Middle Ages Europe is kind of hot-spot when it comes to RTS’. The era and corner of the world have played roles in a few games over the years. Microsoft’s classic Age of Empires probably comes to mind fastest, as should the Total War series.

Developer Destructive Creations heads back there yet again. Their newest looks like it might be a rollicking good time. Well, if you count making war as a good time.

Ancestors Legacy is a history-inspired real-time strategy game influenced by events that took place during the Middle Ages. The game combines resource management and base building with large-scale, squad-based battles across immense battlefields. Take command of your army as you storm through medieval Europe in an extensive series of campaigns. Choosing one of the four available nations – Viking, Anglo-Saxon, German, or Slav – you will be tasked with more than just conquering, raiding, and pillaging enemy camps, villages, and towns. Only by utilizing the full range of available tactical options, taking strategic advantage of the environment, and managing your temporary bases and settlements will you emerge victorious.

Ancestors Legacy originally debuted on the PC, and the Switch version will carry over much of what that game offered. The game features spud-based combat, day/night cycles, and a skirmish mode to keep you playing.

Out now on the Switch digitally, Ancestors Legacy is also getting a physical release, and will be on store shelves this August.
