Snake-Eyes: Deadgame (Comics) Preview

Iconic comic book artist and creator Rob Liefeld lends his talents to publisher IDW’s new GI Joe miniseries – Snake-Eyes: Deadgame.

Silent ninja action

Easily one of GI Joe’s most popular characters, Snake-Eyes is a legend. Disfigured and left mute by his injuries, Snake is a tragic figure who dons his now iconic ninja suit and serves as a member of the Joe team.

He’s always been a big part of Joe, right up to his canonical death in the series, as any fan will tell you. Now though, he’ staking center stage in a mini-series even book called Snake-Eyes: Deadgame.

Snake Eyes has long been the most mysterious member of the G.I. JOE team, but within the pages of DEADGAME, he’ll finally be forced to play his hand! How long can he keep his past classified… and what deadly secrets will come back to haunt him?

And taking on the character is a legend himself- Rob Liefeld. The creator of Deadpool was a key talent behind the X-Men boom at Marvel back in the 90s. Liefeld though, eventually went his own way with Youngblood at Image Comics, finding even more success.

As he’ll tell you though, GI Joe predates all of that and was his very first obsessions.

“G.I. JOE was my first obsession. Those were the toys in the sandbox with me, kung fu grip, eagle eye, I had them all. G.I. JOE is a world of characters that I have always aspired to participate in,” says Liefeld. “Snake Eyes was a profound influence on my creating Deadpool. Producing this series is an all-time bucket list achievement for me.”

“I’ve seen Rob’s excitement about G.I. JOEfor years,” says John Barber, IDW Editor-In-Chief. “I’m thrilled and amazed to see it all finally coming together in the biggest SNAKE EYES comic book in decades — maybe ever! There’s a real electric charge in the air every day as new pages come in — every one seemingly topping the last!”

The first issue of Snake-eyes: Deadgame hits stands this June, but we’ve got an appropriately silent preview for you (it’s unlettered) below.
