McFarlane’s DC Multiverse toys up for pre-order

Well that was fast! As soon as the New Year came to pass, McFarlane Toys’ began its run with DC Comics action figures. They’re up for pre-order now!

The Dark Knight Rises

It was a kind of sad thing, when the DC license passed from Mattel to McFarlane. Not that there was trepidation about the new licensee, but there was some lament in the fact that Mattel was starting to do a good job with it once again. It’d been a long time since that was the case after all.

Since the close of DC Universe Classics, Mattel continually fumbled the line. Continued poor choices led to fans loosing interest too I suppose, which didn’t seem to re-emerge when they actually got their act together.

The result was a shift from DC’s traditional home to something new. You might’ve seen Spinmasters’ 4″ offerings make news yesterday, and they’re actually kind of cool. But there’s little doubt that McFarlane’s stuff is the main event. And it doesn’t look like the company will be letting too many people down.

As you can see here, the sculpts are excellent, and with 22 points of articulation they should make for some impressive displays. It’s especially nice too, to see the double joints on most of the elbows and knees. That’s something that Mattel never could get.

The lineup is equally impressive, with figures spread out mainly between the Batman and Superman corners of the DCU to lead things off. They’re not just comics-based either with classic animated figures and CW TV editions. Scroll down for the full list.
