Super7 officially launches SuperSports line

Retro-styled figures of some of the MLB’s best and assorted mascot characters are coming up, courtesy of Super7.

Batter up

We first told you about the SuperSports line back at Toy Fair a few weeks ago. Then of course, all we knew was that the line would have Jackie Robinson on its roster, in celebration of the icon’s 100th birthday. We actually didn’t even have a name for the line yet. Today Super7 went just a little more in-depth.

Dubbed SuperSports, the new line will focus on Major League Baseball, at least for now. According to the toy-maker, you can expect to see stars of both today and yesterday in the waves to come. But that’s not all.

While the ReAction figures sound like the central part of SuperSports, there will be offshoot series’ as well.

SupersportsTM by Super7® will launch this exciting line of products with a brand new licensing agreement with Major League Baseball. Featuring iconic MLB players and teams from the past plus the best of today, the collection will include 3.75” ReAction Figures®, a Super7® classic, plus Bullpen BuggiesTM, a new diecast take on classic bullpen carts, and Pintrill co-branded enamel pins featuring players, mascots and some of the greatest moments in MLB history. This collaboration builds on the Super7® brand tradition of taking nostalgic properties from the past and adding a unique twist for a modern consumer.

Super7 press release

So who is in this first list of offerings?

Some of the greatest of all time, including Robinson, Willie Mays, and Ted Williams. The first year of the line will actually have a theme too, centering on the Boston Red Sox versus the New York Yankees, and San Francisco Giants versus Los Angeles Dodgers. Classic stuff.

Even if you’re not a fan of the above though, you still might like what’s planned. That’s because Super7 is including some all-time great team mascots in the inaugural season, like “Philly Phanatic, Mr. Met and the off-kilter Crazy Crab”.

Yes, the Crazy Crab. He’s a Giants mascot from back in 1984. See? Super7 is not just fun, but educational too!

About Jason Micciche
