Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout goes free for a week

A free trial of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s most interesting new mode is going live tomorrow, and you’ll be able to try it out for a full week.

Free ops

I have to admit, I don’t know how well Black Ops 4 has been selling. The last I heard, pretty well, though I imagine it could be better. That’s because Activision is launching a free trial of Blackout, the game’s new “battle royal” mode. Presumably that’ll be to tempt gamers who might be on the fence to buy in.

It’s going to give you a good taste of the action that Black Ops 4 offers too, if you’re one of those prospective players. Activision says that you’ll be able to get down on the mode for a full week. The trial launches tomorrow, and is playable on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Here’s a look:

In addition to the free play, Activision is also launching a new update for Black Ops 4. That update, hitting tomorrow as well (later for the PC), will include:

  • Debut of Gauntlets and new Elixirs in Zombies on PS4
  • A new week of Featured Playlists and the addition of Elevation and Madagascarto map rotation for Black Ops Pass owners in Multiplayer
  • New-and-improved console looting interface in Blackout
  • plus much more
