Red Sonja 45th Anniversary Trading Cards sell out at distributors

One of Dynamite Comics’ first new trading card series’, Red Sonja has proven pretty popular. Sets have sold out at the distributor level.

She devil with a sword

Dynamite has been producing Red Sonja comics for a while now, but this is their first trading card series starring the character. Actually, it’s one of their first trading card series’ period.

It’s not to be the last though. The publisher has already announced Fallout and KISS sets, which will be coming up later this year. Let’s get back to Sonja though, because if her cards are anything to go by this is going to be a successful line from the publisher.

Sets include and 18-card base collection, plus Dynamite chase cards. Those include:

  • 6 autographed cards
  • 3 B&W art cards
  • 9-card puzzle cards
  • 2-box-topper special cards
  • hand-drawn original art signed sketch cards

So as you can see, these are small sets of cards. They’re not the massive, tough to collect collections of old. That’s probably one of the reasons they’ve done so well. There’s a small amount of effort needed to get the whole series.

“The demand for the 45th Red Sonja Anniversary Trading Card series has simply been overwhelming.  A lot of thought and hard work went into this series and we knew we knew we would have strong sales, but we never would have predicted that we would have sold through our whole stock in advance of the in-store date!” said Nick Barrucci, CEO and Publisher of Dynamite Entertainment. “We always knew Red Sonja had a dedicated fanbase, but the stellar response at both comic shops and specialty retail stores has simply exceeded all of our expectations. Supporting stores has been a top priority for us.”

Though the cards have sold out at the distributor level, that doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to get them anymore. All it effectively does mean is that you’ll heave to hunt them down at your local comics shop. Depending on the store that you have near you, that might not be all that hard.

And if you do miss out, there are those Fallout and KISS sets coming up. They’ll be hitting soon too, landing in stores next month.
