If you’ve yet to try the sequel to Fatshark’s Warhammer: Vermintide, you’re in luck. The base game is free to play this weekend.
Stemming the tide
“We are excited to bring Steam users the chance to play Vermintide 2” says Martin Wahlund, CEO Fatshark. “This will be a good opportunity to get into the battle and help the Heroes fend of the Skaven and Chaos hords.”
You’ll notice there that Wahlund didn’t mention the Xbox version of Vermintide 2, but don’t sweat it. Both editions are indeed free to play this weekend, though gratis time with either one is limited to the base game. No expansions are included. Though that doesn’t mean you can’t play the newest one.
Shadows over Bogenhafen is actually free to play too, if you have a pal who owns it. As long as you’re invited in to play, you don’t have to have a copy yourself. Not too shabby.
Free Weekend
Aug 30 – Sep 3 will let everyone on Steam play Vermintide 2 for free. The whole game will be available, including the new Shadows Over Bogenhafen DLC if you are lucky enough to be invited by a fellow Hero who owns the DLC.
While the game is free, if you try it out and want to grab yourself a copy to keep you’ll also find a deal running this weekend. It’s a hefty discount too, clocking in at 50% off the asking price.
So it’s not a bad time at all to get into Vermintide 2.
