Microsoft clears more original Xbox titles for Xbox One backwards-compatibility

A fresh slate of games has made the OG Xbox list, and will soon be playable on the Xbox One. Morrowind, Republic Commando, Conker, Knights of the Old Republic 2, and more are all on the way later this month.

Back to the Xbox

This is some great news indeed, as some of the games Microsoft has just cleared for back-compat are marquee titles from the original Xbox days. The games will be arriving in a pair of waves, with eight landing on the 17th, and the remainder arriving on the 26th.

Each title will be playable natively, right from the original disc. Just pop it into your Xbox One and you’re good to go after a brief download. If you don’t have a hardcopy, you can still play however. All you need to do is buy the game in question from Microsoft’s Xbox marketplace. It looks like the games that are already available for play are $9.99 USD each, and there’s no reason to think that these new waves won’t be the same. So you can probably figure on that.

As for what’s coming, the 17th will bring Blinx, Breakdown, Conker: Live & Reloaded, The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, Hunter: The Reckoning, Jade Empire, Panzer Dragoon Orta, and SSX 3. Conker and Morrowind are the obvious gems in there, though Jade Empire is a great role-player, and Hunter was plenty of fun too, from what I recall.

Then on the 26th, you’ll get Destroy All Humans!, Full Spectrum Warrior, Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, MX Unleashed, and Panzer Elite Action: Fields of Glory (Europe only). Oh, wait a sec, I forgot something… How about a ton of old Star Wars games? Star Wars: Battlefront, Battlefront 2, Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, Jedi Starfighter, Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords, and Star Wars: Republic Commando will all be playable on that later date.

All in all, a great list. It’s awesome too, to see that Microsoft is very much supporting their pledge to get original Xbox titles playable on the One. Now, if only these additions could be made to hit monthly, we’d really have something. Not to mention a monster list of backwards-compatible fun.
