NECA once again wowed show-goers at Toy Fair with an excellent series of collectibles. From their mammoth quarter scale figures to staple lines like Aliens and Predator, NECA came up big. Oh, and Crash Bandicoot? It’s a home run.
Crash Bandicoot comes back to toy land
Now, there isn’t a huge line up for NECAs inaugural Crash line. But honestly, there doesn’t have to be, since what is here is phenomenal. A trio of figures featuring the main marsupial himself kicks things off, with a basic Crash, one that includes his jet-board, and one with his jet pack.
Looks like each one includes a crate (it’s paper craft) and all should be out some time this year.
Quarter Scale
NECA’s quarter scale figure series keeps on rolling with some very impressive takes on Marvel and DC Comics headliners (among others). Included in what was present at Toy Fair was Daredevil, Wonder Woman, Captain America, the T-800 from Terminator 2, and that newly revised Deadpool.
Evil Dead
Series 2 of NECAs Ash vs Evil Dead is not yet in stores. For fans, that means that there hasn’t been much to buy from the line since around the Holiday Season of 2016. And that’s a while no matter how you slice it. Now though, NECA not only has wave 2 of the figures prepped for launch, but also that incredible looking Ash vs Evil Ed 2 pack from Evil Dead 2. Groovy.
Aliens and Predator
Both Aliens and Predator have been a staple of NECAs offerings for years. This Toy Fair is no different, as we get a look at the next wave of Kenner-inspired designs (that snake!) and the AvP arcade game figures. Great stuff all around.
NECA gets into dioramas
This is virgin territory for NECA. And actually, it’s kind of virgin territory for any “mass market” toy-maker. I’m referring to dioramas of course, which don’t really see the light of day… kinda ever. Here we are though, with a massive diorama being shown off at the NECA booth.
It’s shown here with TMNT figures, though as is pointed out, it could really be used with any 6-7″ figure series. There’s no price yet, and although there’s a “summer 2018” tag on it, I have to believe it might slip past that. Still, it’s very nicely made and offers some tantalizing thoughts for what might lie in the future if it’s a hit.
The best of the rest
Of course, there was loads of other stuff on NECAs shelves in the booth this Toy Fair. Here’s a bit of what I thought stood out from the rest.
