Chris Claremont returns for a Marvel Comics X-Men Wedding Special

One of the greatest X-Men writers of all time, Chris Claremont returns to Marvel Comics to pen the wedding of Kitty Pryde and Colossus. Chances that this arc will end without some problems for our heroes? Probably zero.

Mutant marriage

Anyone out there remember the wedding of Jean Grey and Scott Summers? That storyline set in one of the best times in X-Men comics. It was also the last time there was a headlining wedding in the mutant corner of the Marvel Universe. Till now anyway, since Colossus is tying the knot with Shadowcat.

And that means that fans will be ,getting a special issue, packed with three stories from Rogue & Gambit’s Kelly Thompson, X-Men Gold’s Marc Guggenheim, and the legendary Claremont. His part in the special issue, by the way, will focus on Pryde. No word as of yet what tales Thompson and Guggenheim will tell.

“X-Men weddings are always a big deal, if only because they’re so rare,” teased writer Kelly Thompson. “I think you probably have to go all the way back to X-Men #30 in 1994 – the wedding of Jean Grey and Cyclops – to get a wedding as potentially big as the wedding of Kitty Pryde and Colossus: two X-Men who’ve been around (and on again/off again) for literal decades.”

Billed as a companion to X-Men Gold issues #26-30′ ‘Til Death Do Us Part arc, X-Men Wedding Special #1 will hit stores on May 16th.
