A speaker on your hat? Why not. Atari and NECA’s new Speakerhats are certainly cyber-punky enough for the world of Blade Runner 2049.
Like music notes in the rain (or something)
Have you ever wished you had a speaker on your hat? Wait, make that “in your hat”? Well, fresh off of the announcement of the Ataribox video game console, someone at Atari did. And thanks to a deal with toy and collectible-maker NECA, that thought is now a reality.
The Speakerhats can connect to your favorite music-player wirelessly via bluetooth and will feature both speakers and a mic. Yes, that means you can not just listen to tunes, but also take phone calls, and even use speech recognition apps. The patented Speakerhats will also feature a piece of tech called Social Synchronous Broadcast. See where this is going?
Enabling “Multiplayer Mode”, the SSB allows multiple users to stream the same content. That effectively makes sharing music (or whatever audio you have going) incredibly easy. Pretty awesome honestly.
The hats will become available at retail this fall, along with some as-yet unrevealed additional wearables. The line will be branded with Blade Runner 2049 across the boards it seems, and Atari and NECA are looking like they’re going to hit the wearable tech market pretty hard.
We’ll have more for you as it becomes available. In the meantime, have a peek at the ins and outs of the Speakerhat in the gallery below.
