Professor Layton spinoff game receives new title and global release date

Level 5 provided more info on the upcoming spinoff to the Professor Layton series, offering a new name for the game and its global release date.

The Facts

In a press release, the production studio revealed the game will be titled “Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaire’s Conspiracy.” The game is described as having a different gameplay structure than previous entries.

“Previous titles have focused on solving one large puzzle,” the release said. “In this new title, however, the aim is to solve many smaller mysteries woven into an intriguing overall plot. Gameplay focuses on interactions with a cast of witty characters, all taking part in a story full of dramatic developments and amusing incidents.”

The game will also have a new protagonist, following Professor Layton’s daughter Katrielle Layton. The game will launch worldwide for iOS and Android July 20, 2017. The 3DS version of the game will also launch on this date in Japan and is expected to release sometime later in the fall for Europe and North America.

Professor Layton was one of the more enjoyable and successful series to come to Nintendo’s handhelds in recent years. One can only hope it enjoys similar success on mobile devices.
