The Apocalypse Wars rage in Marvel’s X-titles

Apocalypse is back in more than just the new X-Men movie, as Marvel kicks off its latest X-Men event.

This March, the Extraordinary X-Men come face-to-face with one of their most fearsome foes. Today, Marvel is pleased to present your first look at EXTRAORDINARY X-MEN #8 – the first chapter of the “APOCALYPSE WARS” storyline. Be there as creators Jeff Lemire and Humberto Ramos take you into the far flung future. Mutantkind is an endangered species once more – what better way to ensure your people make it to tomorrow – than to skip ahead right to it? As the mutant race’s last hope is jettisoned into the time stream, the Extraordinary X-Men make a startling discovery: the fate of their kind is about to fall into the hands of one of their most formidable adversaries – the immortal Apocalypse! Now, Storm and her team must race into a perilous and deadly future if they are to have any hope of reclaiming their present! Only they’re completely unaware of the horrors that await them on the other side. Be there as the flagship X-Men title kicks off a blockbuster Apocalypse tale this March in EXTRAORDINARY X-MEN #8!

I’m not reading any X-Men book at the moment, so I have to admit I’m kind of lost with that preview. Are mutants on the edge of extinction again, or does that mean that they’re having problems in the future? Sometimes with X-Men, it’s hard to know.

Even though I’m not reading right now though, I’m a pretty die hard X-fan right through somewhere around 2006 and I’m a huge fan of the comic’s 80s and 90s runs. And yes, that basically means that I have a pretty hefty affinity for Apocalypse as a villain. So the bottom line is that I’ll probably be checking this one out.

How about you though? Are you a lapsed fan or one of the X-faithful? And are you excited to see the return of old ‘pocky one more time?

Apocalypse Wars starts in Extraordinary X-Men #8, which comes to you from Jeff Lemire and Humberto Ramos on March 16th.
