Conker is back! …kinda, sorta.

If you thought that Conker’s involvement with Project Spark was over and done with at the E3 demo last year, then you’ve got another thing coming. Although I should mention that that thing that’s coming is not a full-blown Conker game.

I have to admit that I’ve never been all that big of a Conker fan. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy the N64 title that reinvented the character, it’s just that I’m not as crazy about him and his world as others are, by a long shot actually. Still though, Rare’s dirty little squirrel is something of a gaming phenomenon and there are hordes of people who would love to see him starring in another game.

For now though, it looks like that’s not in the cards. What you will be getting though, is an asset pack for the already released ‘game making’ software for the Xbox One known as Project Spark. You’ll be able to craft your own Conker adventures with this pack, which includes some 300 in-game assets, and be able to play the levels that others would-be game developers come up with. There’s also set to be a Conker episodic adventure coming to Spark, right from developers Team Dakota, if you’re not the creative type but still want some more Conker in your life.

And if you think that all this might be leading into something a little meatier, well, you’re out of luck there. Xbox boss Phil Spencer has quashed those rumors via Twitter where he responded to a fan saying a definitive “yes” when asked if we could “assume that Rare isnt working on a new conker game because of the project spark announcement”. So that’s about that. For now anyway.
