Action, action, and more action is what this newest look at Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is all about. Oh, and uh, maybe a second player too.
I’ve played the original Hotline Miami only sparingly, though our own Mike J expounded on the glory of it all in his review of the PS Vita version of the game. From what I’ve played of it though, it didn’t seem half as action-oriented as Hotline Miami 2 does in this newest trailer. Dual submachine guns? Didn’t see that in my playthrough of the first one… might have to get back to that now that I’m thinking about it again actually.
Action and weaponry aside though, there’s definitely is something new in this trailer and that’s the second character helping in the hits that you see playing out in the video. Devolver Digital and developer Dennaton Games aren’t saying anything right now (they’re waiting till PAX East this weekend), but it certainly looks like either there’s a AI companion (or companions) feature going on, or the game will have multiplayer in some way. Any way you cut that, it should be music to the ears of series fans as the first installment was a decidedly solo affair and the inclusion of at least an option to go multi would seriously shake things up in what’s sure to be another brutally-difficult bloody swath awaiting gamers as they cut their way through the gang warfare scene in 1980’s Miami.
