Ultimate Spider-Man #200 celebrates two Spidey’s and kicks off a whole new arc

Miles Morales and the rest of the Ultimate Marvel U honor the life of the original Ultimate Spider-Man, Peter Parker, while Miles’ life as the web-slinger is about to get a lot more difficult.

Marvel is proud to present your first look at ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #200 – the monumental anniversary issue! Legendary writer Brian Michael Bendis teams with Ultimate Spider-Man artists past and present for a celebration of all things Peter Parker, Miles Morales, and more! This epic, double-sized issue features art by Dave Marquez, Mark Bagley, Mark Brooks, Sara Pichelli, and David Lafuente!

On the anniversary of his death, the whole world mourns the loss of Peter Parker, the original Spider-Man. At the home of May Parker, a more intimate gathering of Peter’s closest friends grieve for the loss of their dear friend. But even as they remember their fallen friend, a sinister plan has been set in motion. And the shocking truths about Peter and his world are about to be revealed.

Plus, don’t miss the shocking ending that will have everyone talking! Seeds sown here will bear bitter fruit for Miles in the upcoming Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man series! And it all starts here! No fan can afford to miss the epic ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #200!

I think the famous line intimating that nobody stays dead in comics except Bucky really needs to be changed to nobody stays dead except the Ultimate version of Peter Parker. Well after the character’s death and the rise of Miles Morales as the latest character to wear the webs, there’s nothing to indicate a possibility of the original Ultimate Spidey’s return. That’s probably a good thing as the new version of the character seems to be really catching on with fans and now that Pete’s officially coming back in the regular Marvel U, it’s not like web-heads won’t be able to get their Parker fix month-to-month.

There are also a pair of ‘shocking’ statements in that press release that you see above, so I’m going to go ahead and guess that Ultimate Spider-Man is in for a rough few months ahead. That ‘sinister’ statement doesn’t sound too great either… or maybe it does. As long as you’re not that friendly neighborhood Spider-Man that is.

Ultimate Spider-Man #200 (nice to see a book actually allowed to get that high in numbers in the modern age) will swing onto stands on April 2nd from the team of longtime Spider-Man artist Mark Bagley, fellow artists Dave Marquez and Mark Brooks, and Brian Michael Bendis.
