Transformers Universe re-emerges, tests its metal with new trailer

We haven’t heard anything from Transformers Universe in a while, but the game’s far from dead. Actually, it’s looking more impressive than it ever has.

2014 is the launch year for Transformers Universe and the start of an epic journey as you #testyourmetal. A Massively Online Tactical Action game (MOTA), Transformers Universe offers fast-paced, battle-centric, tactical action with game modes for core gamers, casual gamers and Transformers enthusiasts alike. As Commander of a new squad of bots, you will recruit, maintain and battle others with a unique collection of Transformers warriors created in collaboration with our friends at Hasbro.

Although we haven’t seen a whole heck of a lot about Transformers Universe since we profiled the game back in October of 2011, you can definitely tell that developer Jagex has done a ton and a half of work done on it between then and now. While the version that we were treated to at New York Comic Con was super-raw and really only had a handful of character types and no worlds to play in (not to speak of anyway), this new look at TU showcases environments and characters that fit right in with the popular Transformers Prime cartoon franchise.

With another feature film on the way from director Michael Bay, the Transformers Prime TV series still going strong and now Transformer Universe officially back on the radar, 2014 should be a very good one for Trans-fans. Expect to see Transformers Universe debut some time this Summer for the PC. And if you’d like to sign up for the beta, you can do that right now by clicking here.
