The upcoming game based not he Rambo flicks gets a bit closer to release with the new Machines of War trailer.
Rambo: The Video Game still looks pretty amazing. Reef Entertainment’s stab at the once monstrously popular action film franchise is set to be something of a throwback itself; an arcade-centric ‘fixed perspective’ FPS. I’m not 100% sure what the publisher means by the ‘fixed perspective’ comment, but the words ‘on rails’ come to mind.
Still though, there hasn’t been a Rambo game since the NES (which was awful) and it’s great to see the character getting another shot at the video game world. It’s also great to see Rambo being treated with some modicum of respect and as the icon that the ’80s staple was. I can’t say I was the biggest fan of the movies back in the day, but you couldn’t go a week without seeing something from them at times in the 1980’s, which is pretty significant when you think about how many huge sci-fi and action films were seeing release in the ‘me decade’.
As for when you’ll finally be able to plunge into the jungles as John Rambo himself, the game has already missed its tentative release of ‘2013’, but should be on the way for some time this year for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
