IDW announces Michael Chiklis’ Pantheon TV series

The publisher will adapt the comic about Greek Gods returning to Earth for TV with the help of series star and producer, Michael Chiklis.

You probably know Chiklis best from his long running television shows The Shield and The Commish, but comic fans may know the actor and producer too from his turn as the ever-loving, blue-eyed Thing in the Fantastic Four movies from a few years back. Chiklis has had a ton of success over the years in TV and his The Shield show was a critical and fan favorite throughout its six year run on the FX channel.

So it’s probably only fitting then that Pantheon, a creation of his, should get the small screen treatment. IDW’s David Ozer will be funding the adaptation along with Chiklis himself and Circle of Confusion’s David Alpert and Rick Jacobs; who’ll all be listed as Executive Producers on the show. Pantheon started life was a five-issue mini-series, but has attained a solid fan following and definitely has the cool factor with its neat premise to make it as a weekly television show.

No word yet on when you can expect to see Pantheon make its TV debut, but the comics are available right now from IDW and would make a great primer if the old Gods’ return is something that piques your interest.
