King of Fighters ’97 dukes it out on iOS and Android

The classic SNK Playmore fighter is available now on mobile platforms.

I have some pretty great memories of this one and I think that might go for a lot of gamers. KoF’97 is one of the very best games in the series and a classic of the genre with a ton of characters and some really nice graphics too. So how’s it translate onto mobiles? Pretty well from the sound of things.

  • A robust roster of 35 fierce fighters– Play as iconic SNK fighters such as Kyo Kusanagi and Terry Bogard, and try to master the infamous New Face Team or the KOF ’97 Special Team! The NEOGEO version’s hidden characters are now available directly on the character select screen, so players can easily crush their opponents using Orochi Iori or Orochi Leona.
  • Two special game modes– Based on modes from previous titles in the series, Extra Mode and Advance Mode challenge players to compete in tournaments with special rules. Master the challenge by beating rivals into the ground!
  •  A NEOGEO Perfect Port– Play THE KING OF FIGHTERS ’97 the way it was intended with 4 buttons, or enjoy the new and enhanced 6-button control scheme, including the simplified special move (SP) button!

SNK Playmore is promising a complete King of Fighters experience for fans here with everything that you’d expect to find in the game present and accounted for. If they got the gameplay right then this one for fighting games fans to keep in mind if they’re looking for a mobile fighter to jam on while waiting in those long Holiday lines. And you know how much fun those are.

King of Fighters ’97 is available right now on iOS and Google Play for $3.99 USD.
