SimCity ‘Cities Of Tomorrow’ Expansion Announced

The troubled entry in Maxis’ city building series is getting an expansion.

Maxis have announced that SimCity is getting its first expansion pack.  SimCity: Cities of Tomorrow is set 50 years in the future, and grants you new technologies, areas, specializations and transport methods.  There’s also an evil corporation called OmegaCo which strip mines the environment and causes a lot of pollution.  There’s also a new disaster, the ability to build vertically with mega towers and green energy powered service drones.  However, the game will still not have an offline mode.

“Will the world of tomorrow be a utopia powered by clean energy or an industrial society consumed by mass commercialism?” says Maxis Emeryville general manager Patrick Buechner.

“With SimCity Cities of Tomorrow, players can build the future as they imagine it. Transport your Sims on MagLev, power your cities with fusion reactors or tidal wave generators, manufacture a legion of drones to serve your Sims and build massive MegaTowers that dwarf modern skyscrapers.”

SimCity: Cities of Tomorrow is out on November 15th on PC and Mac.  You can see the announcement trailer below.
