R.I.P.D. now shooting up consoles and PC

Atlus and Old School Games’ downloadable game based on the Dark Horse Comics property turned movie is now available and ready to blast the dead back to the afterlife.

Developer Old School Games worked hand in hand with Universal and got total access to all the movie designs and elements as development of the game went forward along with the film. The end result of that is that fans will get a very faithful title that acts and looks like the movie and comic universe it plays off of.

A third-person shooter, RIPD features co-op play and a unique ‘betting’ system that’ll have those paired players actually betting on which of them can nail the most malevolent spirits as they play. The general idea there is to add a level of competitiveness to the cooperative play, something that also plays into the movie as main characters and partners Roy Pulsipher (Jeff Bridges in the film)and Nick Walker (Ryan Reynolds) don’t exactly have the greatest of relationships.

Also popping up at different times are ‘challenges’ which will amp up the difficulty and also reward players with some extra gold, keeping the action fresh.

R.I.P.D. is available now on Xbox Live for 800 MS points and on both the PSN and PC for $9.99 USD.

About Jason Micciche
