From the pages of Hellboy, Dark Horse’s newest title set in the universe Mike Mignola created features the World War 2 era powerhouse known as Sledge-Hammer.
The book will be heading to stands from Mignola, John Arcudi and Jason Latour soon. In the meantime, click the thumbnail to check out a special comic strip style preview of Super Soldier, just to whet your appetite.
Mignola rarely disappoints in general and as a huge fan of his Hellboy and BPRD titles, I’m very much looking forward to this one.
Super Soldiers are, of course, nothing new in comic books. Captain America is probably the first name that comes to mind when you think of the term, but there are tons of characters who’ve had the words applied to them over the years from loads of different comic companies.
What I like so much about Mignola and his work though is exactly what I believe will make this book just that much different – and probably worth your reading time. And I’m talking about the always unusual, slightly off center and just plain weird at times slant the Mignola-verse takes with it’s stories.
Now it is spun off of Hellboy, so you know that there’s going to be a little weirdness right away, but just read through the preview and you can see that ‘odd’ probably doesn’t even begin to describe what’ll be floating around in the pages of Super Soldier.
Personally, I can’t wait to see when the book hits stands courtesy of Dark Horse Comics.
