NYCC: Strider demo gameplay

Strider makes its way to New York Comic Con, with plenty of players getting a taste of what the game has to offer them at the demo booth.

This title is a remake of the arcade classic originally released 1989. It was ported to several other platforms not long after, such as the NES, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, Amiga, and many more. You play as a character named Hiryu, who belongs to a special force of ninjas tasked with assassinating a dictator that’s oppressing the world. Strider is a hack’n slash action game that affords the player a lot of mobility; it was pretty revolutionary, as arcade beat’em ups of its time weren’t platform intensive or fast paced like Strider was.

Strider is pretty faithful to its classical incarnation. Movement is fluid and fast paced, and the levels are structured to be platform intensive. You scale walls, cling to various surfaces, jump on platforms, all while mercilessly cutting down your foes. This game will also have some features from the NES version of Strider returning to it as well, so if you’re a fan of the console port, you’re in for a real treat. Strider will be released in 2014 for PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One and PC.
