Konami outlines Metal Gear Solid companion app

Ready to add a second screen to your Metal Gear Solid V experience? Then you’re going to want the companion app from Konami.

With the big day dawning tomorrow, the final piece of the Metal Gear Solid story arc is almost here. To add a little more oomph to the big event (not that it really needed any more), Konami will be releasing a special companion app for smartphones and tablets.

Basically, if you used the companion app for Ground Zeroes, then you know what to expect here. The app will connect with the main game as you play, and be able to show you the map so you won’t have to check where you’re going via the TV.

It’s also a fat-out better map than you’ll find in the game, as you can see more of the territory that you’re traversing and you’ll be able to use it to listen to all of the records and music files that you collect on your adventure. There is one caveat though, in that Xbox 360 gamers are left out of the fun for some reason.

The app is only compatible with the Xbox One, PS4, and PS3 editions of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. If you’re playing on one of those latter consoles though, you’ll be able to grab a copy of the app starting tomorrow, September 1st.
