Live your dreams in the world of Sega’s Yakuza 5

Sega reveals a bit about the story, design, and more in the latest Yakuza title to get the localization treatment for western audiences.

So there you have it, general director of the series Toshihiro Nagoshi and producer Masayoshi Yokoyama, sitting down with Gio Corsio, who’s with the SCEA Third Party Production team. If you’re a big fan of the Yakuza series, which is admittedly a niche one, then you no doubt got a lot out of that little chat.

Personally, it’s always interesting to me to hear what thoughts went into a game. To hear the background on Yakuza was particularly cool, especially with the fact that the guys in charge didn’t even really set about to make a game involving organized crime. So basically the whole reason they made a title surrounding the Yakuza at all was just because no one was doing it at the time. Pretty cool.

Yakuza 5 hits the PS3 some time later this year.

About Jason Micciche

Jason's been knee deep in videogames since he was but a lad. Cutting his teeth on the pixely glory that was the Atari 2600, he's been hack'n'slashing and shoot'em'uping ever since. Mainly an FPS and action guy, Jason enjoys the occasional well crafted title from every genre.
