New screens of Space Hulk: Deathwing emerge from the warp

Streum On Studio’s take on the long-running (and suddenly everywhere) Space Hulk franchise stars a group of Space Marine Terminators and the Unreal 4 engine.

I mean honestly, I don’t think I’ve heard this much about Space Hulk since I was playing the tabletop game religiously and hacking away at the 3DO title of the same name (LOVED that game). All of a sudden though Games Workshop in general, and Space Hulk in particular, is a massive name in the gaming industry.

If Streum On Studio has their way, that’s a fact that’s not going to be changing anytime soon. The developer’s new FPS Space Hulk: Deathwing features in the Unreal 4 engine and is so far looking pretty darned awesome.

The game puts players in charge of a Dark Angel chapter, Deathwing Terminator Librarian who’s leading a team into an ancient Space Hulk. The derelict ship has emerged from the Warp (GW’s version of interstellar travel) in bad shape and carrying a hive of Genestealers. That’s not all though as the ship is also hauling “many sub-species of Genestealers” and “huge Bloodlords”.

Aside from the weapons and armor that fans might be expecting, you’ll also be able to use the psychic powers of a Psyker since you’re a Librarian. What, you didn’t think you’d be collecting late fees on the Tyranid’s library books did you? Four skill trees of psychic abilities are promised overall, with access to relics and new weapons too becoming available as you play.

As an old school fan of the IP, I’m seriously excited about this one. If you are too, check out the screens below and then sit tight, because we’ll probably be hearing a ton more about Space Hulk: Deathwing at next month’s E3 conference.
