Ubisoft’s Child of Light release date announced with new trailer

Child of Light is Ubisoft’s absolutely gorgeous turn-based RPG that uses the UbiArt Framework, and it’s on the way to digital download services this April.

Child of Light is a reimagining of classic fairytales, inviting players on an epic adventure into the magical painted world of Lemuria. Players will uncover mysteries, participate in turn-by-turn combat inspired by classic JRPGs, and explore a mystical kingdom. The game puts players in the shoes of Aurora, a child stolen from her home, who, in her quest to return, must bring back the sun, the moon and the stars held captive by the Queen of the Night. Helped by her companion Igniculus the firefly and several unlikely allies, Aurora will face her darkest fears, including dragons and other mystical creatures, in this modern take on a coming-of-age story.

The stunning visuals on the game are all because of UbiArt, which allowed the developers at Ubisoft Montreal to actually insert concept art directly into the game. So in other words, their artistic vision for the title didn’t have to be compromised in any way and what you see in the finished product is indeed exactly what they wanted. Ubi says it’s like stepping into a painting and I’m definitely on board with that thought.

If you like what you see, you won’t have to  wait in line at a museum to appreciate it though, because Child of Light will be up and ready for download on Xbox Live for the 360 and Xbox One, on the PSN for both the PS3 and 4, on the Wii U’s eShop and on the PC as well on April 30th.
