Raiden’s Metal Gear spinoff is getting a lower asking price and some free downloadable content.
Way more of an action title than pretty much any Metal Gear game that’s come before, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance brought some very cool new ideas to the fore when it released earlier this year, like its cool cut-through-anything swordplay. That probably had a little something to do with the fact that it was developed not just by Kojima Productions, but also by Bayonetta devs Platinum Games.
Shortly after launch, gamers got some DLC packs that actually expanded the game’s storyline and made for a deeper experience too. Both packs allowed you to see the events of the plot line through the eyes of some of the most popular periphery characters, which is a pretty cool concept- especially since the characters of the MGS universe tend to be super-intricuitly detailed.
What publisher Konami has done now is to combine all of what’s come before into one single package, complete with a lower price tag.
The Jetstream DLC is a side story featuring Samuel Rodriguez as a playable character. It contains multiple hours of gameplay including unique abilities and characteristics for Sam, while expanding on his storyline and origins. Sam, the “cool Brazilian wind,” was a lone swordsman who brought terror and chaos to the underworld in Latin America. After slashing through the world’s outlaws as a part of his training, Sam arrives in Denver, Colorado. Players can find out what happens when he challenges “World Marshall” to test his skills. At last, the hidden story behind Raiden’s popular rival will be revealed.
The Blade Wolf DLC is a side story with LQ-84i as a playable character. It features multiple hours of gameplay including unique abilities and characteristics for LQ-84i, while also expanding on each of his storylines and origins. Reactivated by Desperado Enforcement’s leader Sundowner and serving under Mistral, the DLC reveals LQ-84i’s story prior to him battling and eventually joining forces with Raiden and becoming Blade Wolf. Players can battle countless enemies using an arsenal of weapons and abilities, culminating in an all-new boss battle.
It’s a good amount of game and a great amount of hacking and (yes) slashing for your buck. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is available now for the Xbox 360 and PS3 with the all-new price of just $29.99 USD.
