Upcoming Batman doc releases trailer

The currently in Kickstarter ‘Legends of the Knight’ focuses on the “inspirational impact” of Batman and the all around style of “heroic storytelling” and just what it means to fans.

“Batman has become contemporary mythology,” producer/director Brett Culp said. “We want to show how enduring stories like this shape us. Our goal is to inspire everyone on the planet who loves Batman to embody his spirit, engage with the world, and make a difference. Together, we are Batman.”

Much like Culp, I’m a monster Batman fan myself- so from a personal standpoint there’s no denying how cool that documentary looks. And it looks like there’s been a lot of work put into it by the crew.

Culp filmed in a dozen cities and recorded a stunning 48 interviews for inclusion in the film. These interviews aren’t toss aways either as they’ve been recorded with some of the biggest bat-fans and most important people who’ve worked with the franchise in the history of the character.

Who’s in it? So glad you asked:

• Michael Uslan – executive producer of “Batman”, “Batman Begins”, “The Dark Knight”, and “The Dark Knight Rises”
• Denny O’Neil – legendary Batman writer
• Lenny B Robinson – visits children’s hospitals around the country as Batman
• Jill Pantozzi (The Nerdy Bird) – Superhero journalist with the spirit of the Caped Crusader
• Rabbi Cary Friedman – author, “Wisdom from the Batcave”
• Dr. Travis Langley – author, “Batman & Psychology”; teacher of university course in psychology called “Batman”
• Gotham Chopra – co-author, “Seven Spiritual Laws of Superheroes”; son of best-selling author Deepak Chopra

Now that’s a lot of awesome right there. Honestly, the film’s worth a watch just for O’Neil and Uslan alone. Watching it though, requires Culp actually being able to finish it; and that requiress a little more help in the way of the piece’s Kickstarter  campaign.

Legends of the Knight is already doing pretty well for itself on the crowd-funding platform and raised $5k in just the first 12 hours of the campaign. With a Summer 2013 release date and 30 days of Kickstarting left though, they need a bit more to push the film onward.

If you’d like to get in on it, click here to head to the Kickstarter page for the film. Also very much worth noting is that anything funds left over after the Legends of the Knight is complete and out the door will, “in the spirit of Batman”, be donated to charity.
