The N64-inspired first-person shooter that is Agent 64: Spies Never Die is almost here. Would be secret agents can check it out for PC in August.
Old spies never die, they become Agent 64
Playing directly off of some of the best-loved console FPS’ of all time, is Agent 64: Spies Never Die. Replicant D6‘s upcoming first-person shooter will look to recreate the feel of those classics, in terms of both gameplay and look. In doing that though, it’s decidedly carving out its own universe.
The title stars John Walter, a spy in the classic mold. Walter is on the hunt for a global supervillain, and his nemesis, Dominic Pulp. That mission will take him through a full 14 stage campaign, complete with a neat looking arsenal to make use of, and some spycraft. Walter will have to take on a small army, sure, but he’ll also need to save hostages, steal secrets, and even don disguises on occasion. That’s not all either, as this classically-styled action affair will also feature a full multiplayer mode.
Local split-screen play will allow for four players in that realm, while online fans can dig into 8 player action. And yes, this one looks to have all the 64bit trimmings. According to Replicant D6, players can look for “70+ nostalgic cheats and gritty modifiers like Big Heads, Melee Disarms, slow bullet speeds, and random weapon changes in Paradox Mode.”
“Rare’s classic shooters were my favorite games as a child, and there’s so much fun from the N64 era that feels totally forgotten today,” said solo developer Replicant D6. “Agent 64takes all of the adrenaline-fueled memorable moments from the classics, trims out the limitations, and adds in my inspirations from modern action film classics like John Wick. Gamers who played Rare’s beloved titles will feel immediately at home, and those who haven’t will discover a new love for a benchmark era of gaming they missed out on.”
