After a lengthy real-life struggle to make it to the big screen, Coyote vs Acme finally has a first-look trailer.
Wile E. Coyote, SUPER-genius
Unexpected explosions and tech failures have been par for the course the course with Wile E. Coyote. The iconic cartoon star and arch-nemesis of the Roadrunner has been accidentally blowing himself up for decades after all, but maybe it’s not entirely his fault.
Instead, what if the company that he’s always buying all his gimmicks and gear from, Acme, was just plain old predatory? And we mean, what if their products were plain old junk (that blew up unexpectedly)? That very query is the premise for the first silver screen foray for the Looney Tunes brand in a while.
Coyote vs Acme is that movie, a film that stars a cadre of Looney Tunes characters as well as a full human cast. Will Forte takes the center stage there, as low-rent attorney Kevin Avery, hired to legally pursue Acme by the title Coyote. He may have his work cut out for him though. He’s opposed by a corporate counsel by the name of Buddy Crane, who’s played by none other than John Cena. Yes, that John Cena.
Even with him though, this one’s taken years to get to the point where it’s actually seeing the light of day. If you haven’t been paying attention, Coyote vs Acme was the recipient of a monster-sized fan campaign. That effort saw the film go from almost being mothballed to heading to theaters.
So if you were among the masses hoping it’d be saved, here’s the first look at the flick you rescued.
After decades of being blown to bits by bombs, demolished by dynamite, mangled by magnets, battered by boulders, trampled by trains, tricked by tunnels, sprung by springs, steamrolled by steamrollers, maligned by misfires, bedeviled by bungees, rattled by rockets, backstabbed by bat suits, rocked by rocket skates, upended by unicycles, quaked by quake pills, rubberized by rogue bands, and hurled headlong off every cliff in the Southwest, Wile E. Coyote (Genius) finally fights back. Teaming up with billboard accident lawyer Kevin Avery (Will Forte), he takes on slick corporate counsel Buddy Crane (John Cena) and ACME, Inc., the profit-obsessed conglomerate behind every one of the Coyote’s chaotic catastrophes.
