The Street Fighter movie gets a hard-hitting new trailer

It’s setting up to be a very interesting round one for Street Fighter, as Capcom’s iconic fighting series heads back to the big screen.

I’m a Street Fighter

With one teaser in the bag already, this year’s Street Fighter movie is back with a much fuller look. If you had any questions about the plot, this longer glimpse should answer them. Well, it’ll answer a few of them anyway, as there are definitely still a few story-related mysteries lingering about.

As for the main points though, we’ve now got the basics. And for those who follow the games, they should ring familiar. At the heart of things is the Street Fighter tournament, and yes, M.Bison. From what we saw in the trailer too, and of course this mirrors the games, Bison is a center point.

Unlike in the games though, it seems as though Chun-Li is involved somehow. That allusion could of course be a red herring, but we have to wonder if her Interpol links might be shadowing that. Then there are Ken and Ryu.

The Street Fighter live-action film looks to center on the duo, and also their rocky friendship. The film’s tale will apparently be exploring that theme a bit more than the games do as well, with some alterations. Ryu has apparently committed himself to a path of nonviolence in the film. And Ken? Well, he’s kind of a has-been.

One thing’s for sure though, and that’s that Street Fighter is looking very much like the completely crazy fight-fest that the teaser first hinted at. If you like colorful, fantasy action, it might fit the bill.

Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury. But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s GAME OVER!

Helmed by director Kitao Sakurai, Street Fighter is set to bring the battle from the arcade to the big screen with Hadoukens, roundhouses, and all your favorite characters

Fight!

It won’t be long now, until the World Warrior tournament hits movie screens once again. Street Fighter spins out of director Kitao Sakurai, who also co-wrote the screenplay with T.J. Fixman, and stars a massive list of talent.

The cast includes the aforementioned Centineo and Koji as Ken and Ryu, with Callina Liang starring as Chun-Li. Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoai joins them as Ryu’s arch-villain Akuma, and David Dastmalchian will bring the king of psycho-power to life with M. Bison. That’s far from all though, as you can see in that trailer that wrestler Cody Rhodes will star as Guile, with Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Eric André as Don Sauvage, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, Orville Peck as Vega, Olivier Richters as Zangief, Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, Rayna Vallandingham as Juli, and Alexander Volkanovski as Joe. Don’t forget Balrog and Blanka either, as Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson and Jason Momoa will bring those fighters to life.

Street Fighter hits theaters on October 16th, 2026.
