Metal Sonic returns, as Sonic the Hedgehog 4 gets titled

Officially Sonic the Hedgehog 4, the next film in the series that adapts Sega’s iconic mascot will also welcome back a familiar foe.

Finally, Metal Sonic

If you thought the Sonic movies might’ve run out of gas, maybe think again. The fourth outing for the popular series is very much on the way, and it’s looking like the full cast will return for more fast-paced action.

Paramount has revealed both the title for the film, as well as the cast list to that end, and it includes everyone you’d expect. Well, everyone with some notable additions. Among others, Nick Offerman has been announced as joining in, as well as the legendary Ben Kingsley.

Who will they be playing in this next outing? That’s still a mystery, though maybe not totally. While the title has now been made official, something else has too. Namely, we’re referring to the villain (or at least one of them), with Metal Sonic.

Time to get Metal

Yes, the robotic copy of Sonic will be returning from his guest-appearance at the close of the last film. And with that, we’ve got to imagine one of the new actors will be voicing. Whoever it might be, we’re just stoked that Metal Sonic is back.

The evil bot has been hanging around the series of games since Sonic CD after all, and it’s great to see he’s going to be featured. At least, we’re assuming he is. As of right now, we’ve got no idea what the plot will be for Sonic 4.

Whatever the case though, we do have a brief teaser for you to check out.

Directed by Jeff Fowler, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will star a huge list of talent. Fans can look for Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, Kristen Bell, Idris Elba, Keanu Reeves, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Ben Kingsley, Matt Berry, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Lee Majdoub, Nick Offerman, and Richard Ayoade to all be included.

Expect to see much more on Sonic’s next big screen appearance as we speed towards its release in a year’s time. Look for it in theaters on March 19th, 2027.
