The Street Fighter movie shows up big at The Game Awards

The cast of the upcoming Street Fighter movie surprised fans on stage at the TGA’s. But that wasn’t all, as a first-look trailer was shown.

Street Fighter hits the big screen

For those who somehow don’t know, 2026 will see another big screen attempt at adapting Capcom’s Street Fighter games. The mega-series has had a few of those, though there hasn’t been a movie in a while, and the last one was more than a tad understated. What’s coming up from Paramount Pictures though, is decidedly not anywhere near that word.

We’ve only seen stills from the movie up until yesterday, when the whole cast took the stage at The Game Awards. Even better though, was a peek at the movie in action, via a first-look trailer. The flick showcases Ryu and Ken as the main characters, along with Chun-Li, but also features almost the entire cast of Street Fighter II, and then some (where’s Sagat?).

While SFII is clearly the focus though, there are some additions. Cammy from Super Street Fighter II, and Dan from the Alpha series are both onboard as well. Also have we mentioned yet that it looks completely insane? Unlike every previous stab at live-action Street Fighter, this one looks like it leans hard into the game’s designs for its heroes and villains.

Yes, that even includes Cody Rhodes’ Guile having that massive brush-cut. Is that something that’ll work for a full movie? We don’t know, but online reaction has been overwhelmingly positive so far.

Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury. But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s GAME OVER!

Paramount Pictures press release

A World of fighting

Street Fighter is directed by Kitao Sakurai, and will star a massive list of big names and an even bigger list of characters. No, no; we mean massive. Included will be Noah Centineo as “Ken Masters”, Andrew Koji as “Ryu”, Callina Liang as “Chun-Li”. Those are the big three obviously.

The supporting cast is absolutely gigantic though, including Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoai as “Akuma”, David Dastmalchian as “M. Bison”, Cody Rhodes as “Guile”, Andrew Schulz as “Dan Hibiki”, Vidyut Jammwal as “Dhalsim”, and Eric André as “Don Sauvage”. Hang on, we’re not done.

Add to all of that Curtis ‘50 Cent’ Jackson as “Balrog”, and Jason Momoa as “Blanka”. Yes, that’s a big list, but it’s not even the whole thing. World Warriors from the aforementioned Cammy to Vega are all in this movie too, though we suspect in smaller roles.

Look for Street Fighter to hit theaters on October 16th, 2026.
