Starring Chris Pratt and with a story that delves into an A.I.-powered justice system, Mercy is ready to hit the box office in January 2026.
Have Mercy
We’re not really averse to A.I. here at BG, as long as it isn’t being used by multi-billion dollar companies to create visual content. That said, we can’t imagine a world where non-human intelligences manage the most important parts of people’s lives. And the justice system is definitely one of those.
That’s the premise for Amazon MGM Studios‘ Mercy though, a film starring Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson. The movie stars Pratt as a detective who’s been wrongly accused of murder. And unlike in our world, he’s got to prove his innocence, as his guilt already looks to be assumed.
Worse, he’s only got 90 minutes to do so. Oh, and did we mention that the judge is an A.I. that he previously championed? In any event, the movie has a fresh trailer as of today, and you can check that out below.
In the near future, a detective (Chris Pratt) stands on trial accused of murdering his wife. He has 90 minutes to prove his innocence to the advanced A.I. Judge (Rebecca Ferguson) he once championed, before it determines his fate.
Amazon MGM press release
