Control the oceans in WWII naval title Battleship Command

Microprose and Bracer’s upcoming sim sits players in the heart of a steel leviathan. Here’s the first look at Battleship Command.

You sank my Battleship (Command)

It’s not every day that a PC game like Battleship Command gets a reveal, though it might not sound unique at first blush. For one thing, it’s a simulation for sure, and one set in the days of WWII. It’s true that neither of those things are all that innovative. But it’s in the details that this new title from Microprose and developer Bracer sounds like it sets itself apart from others.

How’s that? Well, this game isn’t just about firing massive shells across the waves, and outmaneuvering foes. While both of those elements look to be part of the experience, Battleship Command goes much deeper. That means taking charge of all the ship’s systems, plus actually exploring its confines in first-person.

That’s right, players will actually be able to walk the halls of their ship. And you can add to that a reported “living world” that looks filled with random encounters, and a scenario editor. While you’re at it too, throw in a mix of fictional and historical campaigns, plus missions that are set in the “Atlantic, Arctic, and Mediterranean”.

Battleship Command captures both the might and the vulnerability of naval warfare,” said a MicroProse spokesperson. “It’s not just about the guns – it’s about command, atmosphere, and survival at sea.”
