This Halloween is going to the upside down, and fans can get in on the action with CHIPS AHOY! COOKIE x Stranger Things Claw Machines.
Stranger still
A while back, we told you about some monstrous new cookies that were coming up from CHIPS AHOY!. Those tasty treats were to tie-in with Stranger Things, Netflix’ horror phenomenon that will be wrapping up its run this year.
The cookies mix chocolate with strawberry for a unique indulgence that come throwback-styled. And of course, that packaging also includes Stranger Things branding.
CHIPS AHOY! will even have specially-boxed two-packs out on store shelves, aimed at handing out to trick-or-treaters. Kind of a nice change of pace from the usual chocolate, if you ask us.
At the time, we thought that (and the AR game) was all that was coming up from this confectionary-crossover, but oh how wrong we were. Revealed today via Instagram by actress Millie Bobby Brown herself (who plays Eleven on the show) are some well-timed claw machines. We say “well timed”, since it’s almost Halloween, and what better way to celebrate this year than to get in on a little Stranger Things fun?
As for the ‘wheres’ and ‘whens’ of this meeting of the brands though, keep reading. And if you’re in NYC or Atlanta, you’re in the right place.
Clawing for goodies
Yes, the above-mentioned towns will be the place. Both New York City’s Flatiron North Plaza and Atlanta’s The Battery will be playing host to CHIPS AHOY! COOKIE x Stranger Things Claw Machines. From the sound of it too, these things are going to be loaded.
The machines themselves sport red and blue glowing joysticks and are covered in vines, mimicking the corrupted alt-realm from the show. Fans who are able to get a play, and it’ll be one per attendee, will potentially be able to score some great-sounding goodies too. And no, we’re not (just) talking about cookies.
Included in the vine-covered games will be “co-branded swag to celebrate the partnership like walkie talkies, retro jean jackets, backpacks”, and (yes) cookies. There’s more though, as one winner from each city will win a special prize, that’ll be delivered right to their homes.
What might that prize be? Well, we haven’t the foggiest actually, so you’ll just have to try to win to find out. Speaking of winning, CHIPS AHOY! adds that fans who show up to the pop-up event in costume will “get an extra chance to enter to win”. Not a bad deal there.

More wheres and whens
Just a few things to wrap this all up, as there are a few debut dates to run through. For one, there are the CHIPS AHOY! COOKIE x Stranger Things Claw Machines. Those will pop-up at Flatiron North Plaza in New York City and The Battery in Atlanta this Saturday, October 25th. Fans will be able to check them out from 12pm to 4pm eastern time.
Then there’s Stranger Things 5. That television event will be split into effectively three parts. The fifth season of the show is only eight episodes, but they won’t be dropping weekly, or for that matter, in one lump. Instead, the show’s final run will be constructed as a trio of events.
The first four volumes of Stranger Things 5 will hit Netflix next month, on November 21st. After that, it’s on to Christmas Day for the next three, before the show itself comes to a close on New Year’s Eve with The Finale. All of the above will arrive at 5pm pacific time, on the announced dates.
