The X-Men have a big part to play in Age of Revelation, as 2026 will usher in a line-wide Shadows of Tomorrow storyline.
An X-Men Revelation
Have you been reading Marvel’s universe lately? If you have, then you’ve seen the opening shots in the Age of Revolution event. A massive initiative, AoR has sent the Marvel U a decade into the future, and will be playing out in the X-Men book through December. But what comes after that?
Well, that’d be Shadows of Tomorrow, another big event that’s set to play out in January and February. It’ll pick up from the currently running arc in a big way, as the X-Men will face a new vision of a dark future, one that they’ll be looking to turn back.
The news broke at the X-Men panel at NYCC today, featuring both Marvel Comics VP Executive Editor Tom Brevoort, Editor in Chief C.B. Cebulski. The two were joined by a host of talent that included Jed MacKay, Ryan Stegman, Benjamin Percy, Ashley Allen, and Eve L Ewing.
It’s there that fans got their look at “the next era of X-Men storytelling”.
AGE OF REVELATION, the new status quo that takes the Marvel Universe 10 years into the future, kicked off last week and takes over the X-Men line through December. In its aftermath, the X-Men are now armed with knowledge to prevent one of the darkest futures in Marvel Comics history. It’s time to embrace bold action, strengthen alliances, and empower the next generation! United, the X-Men will alter mutantkind’s fate and ensure their dream isn’t darkened by the SHADOWS OF TOMORROW!

A slate of future’s past
As mentioned, Shadows of Tomorrow klicks off in January, and will indeed include all the X-books. Those will include Uncanny X-Men, Wolverine, and X-Men, but also Storm: Earth’s Mightiest Mutant And Magik & Colossus. Even that’s not all though, as the panel held a few legitimate surprises as well.
Did someone say ‘new launches’? You bet they did, as there will be a host of new books arriving along with the storyline. Cyclops, Rogue, Generation X-23, Inglorious X-Force, and Wade Wilson: Deadpool will all be hitting stores, plus an as yet unnamed project from writer Eve L Ewing.
