TMNT X Godzilla (Comics) Preview

The heroes in a half shell go head to head with the King of the Monsters in TMNT X Godzilla. Check out a five page preview of November’s event.

Cowabunga, it’s Godzilla

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, over their decades of comics, TV, and movies, have had quite a few foes. The Foot Clan would be primary amongst them of course. Not that they’re along, as there’ve been a cadre of mutants, aliens, and other-dimensional villains as well. Most of those have been pretty darn memorable, with wild designs and origins. But, that said, none can really hold a candle to Godzilla.

Yes, the King of the Monsters is set to meet the Turtles universe, thanks to IDW and a collaboration with Paramount and Toho International. The comics publisher will be putting forth TMNT X Godzilla to that end, a mini-series event that’ll commence in November.

There’ll be some serious depth to this tale too, as it’ll weave in a secret history of the Foot. The ancient ninja clan once had a definitive purpose, one that went back a long ways and involved keeping a certain kaiju at bay. The action will see the two pop culture universes merged into one where the Foot Clan have designs on a new form of mutagen. And yes, that involves Godzilla himself.

Godzilla vet Tim Seeley will be at the helm and writing for TMNT X Godzilla, with a TMNT alum providing the artwork. That would be Fero Pe, who fans might know from TMNT: Nightwatcher.

Monsterous variants

Issue #1 of TMNT X Godzilla is set to debut in stores this November 12th and when it lands, it’ll be accompanied by a series of variant covers. Those will hail from the likes of Fero Pe, Juni Ba, Baldemar Rivas, Sean Galloway, Dylan Burnett, and Riley Rossmo. In addition, fans will be able to find a blank variant on the racks, just in case they’d like to get some signatures or a sketch down the line.

Past those, the series will roll on into issues two and three. We’ve actually got a one-page preview and cover of the latter to share as well. Scroll down for those.
