Youngblood’s 33rd anniversary will be punctuated with a fresh run, kicking off at Image Comics this coming November.
They’re back
It’s tough to overstate just how big Youngblood was for Image Comics back in 1992. A part of that was the talent that fueled it, as the comic hailed from one Rob Liefeld. And if you weren’t there at the time, he was about as huge of a talent as anyone.
Fast-forward a few decades, and a new Youngblood #1 is officially on the way. The fresh run will bring the series’ heroes and villains back to life this year, landing on November 5th. And as you can see above, Image will be doing its return in grand fashion.
The re-launch will come complete with a series of variant covers, hailing from some of the biggest modern talent around. Fans can look for the likes of Skottie Young, Daniel Warren Johnson, Ryan Stegman, Ryan Ottley, Kael Ngu, Erik Gist, and Mark Spears to all have variants out there for the big re-launch.

“These are the most in-demand, most popular, most celebrated names in the comics business and Old Man Liefeld could not be more grateful, more humbled that they delivered these spectacular Youngblood covers!” said Liefeld.
Liefeld ignited a collector firestorm earlier this year with the release of the highly sought-after, instant sell-out Youngblood Deluxe single issues—now The Blood is back and cranking the excitement into overdrive! In Youngblood (2025) #1, the team is summoned to a crisis in the Pacific as a mysterious vessel appears and a deadly nemesis is revealed. Readers won’t want to miss this bulletproof return to one of the most exciting series to ever hit the spinner-rack.
Eric Stephenson, Publisher and Chief Creative Officer at Image Comics, added: “Series relaunches have become standard practice in comics over the last 30 years, and Youngblood has certainly come back more than once, but the big difference this time is that Rob is fully in control again. For all intents and purposes, Youngblood #1 in 1991 was Rob Liefeld #1—his opening statement on what his comics were all about—and in my opinion, while a variety of talented writers and artists have done some great work on Youngblood over the years, the missing ingredient has always been Rob. If you’re a Rob Liefeld fan, this new series is both everything you’ve come to expect and the epic return you’ve been waiting for.”

Don’t forget that panel
As we told you earlier this month, and in addition to the above, Liefeld will have his own panel at Comic Con. The “Rob Liefeld: Youngblood 33rd Anniversary”panel will take place in room 7AB at the convention center, and kick off at 5pm this Thursday evening.
Hang on though, because there’s even more Liefeld at SDCC this year, with a signing at the Image Comics booth (#1915). Look for that at 5:30pm this Saturday.
