On the run this fall will be actor Glen Powell, as director Edgar Wright brings legendary action flick The Running Man back to life.
Who do you love!?
Well, in the era of reboots that we’ve been in for… a while, it should come as no surprise that The Running Man is set to return to the big screen. Instead of a sequel though, this new version of the Stephen King novel and 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger classic film will be a full reboot. This time it’ll be actor Glen Powell in the role of main character Ben Richards, with Josh Brolin as the villainous producer Dan Killian.
The basic story sounds more or less the same as it was, though the stakes are higher by leagues, with more or less the entire country trying to cash in on Richards’ demise.
In a near-future society, The Running Man is the top-rated show on television—a deadly competition where contestants, known as Runners, must survive 30 days while being hunted
by professional assassins, with every move broadcast to a bloodthirsty public and each day bringing a greater cash reward. Desperate to save his sick daughter, working-class Ben Richards (Glen Powell) is convinced by the show’s charming but ruthless producer, Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), to enter the game as a last resort. But Ben’s defiance, instincts, and grit turn him into an unexpected fan favorite—and a threat to the entire system. As ratings
skyrocket, so does the danger, and Ben must outwit not just the Hunters, but a nation addicted to watching him fall.
