Maybe packing a little too many arms is Liam Neeson, as he poses with Pamela Anderson for the new look at The Naked Gun.
From the files of Police Squad
Rebooting any beloved property is a harrowing proposition, and that might be doubly true for something like The Naked Gun. One of the best-loved screwball comedy series’ of all time, the IP was formerly head up by the late, great Leslie Nielsen, but has been idle for years.
Now Paramount Pictures, in association with Domain Entertainment and A Fuzzy Door Production, are bringing it back via a soft-reboot. That’s to say that Lielsen’s Frank Drebin (and all the other characters from the series) haven’t been erased, as the new cast takes the reins. Legendary action actor Liam Neeson takes center stage this time, playing Drebin’s son, along with a cast that includes Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, and others.
And yes, we get that the movie might have a tough road with those who’d prefer Hollywood leave the classics be, but we’ve got say that we’re kind of bullish on it. The new trailer, the first full-length one for the film, loads up with some terrific gags, and makes the end result look pretty darn funny. So yeah, we’re kind of looking forward to when The Naked Gun drops into theaters this summer.
Take a look for yourself and see what you think…
Only one man has the particular set of skills… to lead Police Squad and save the world! Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. (Liam Neeson) follows in his father’s footsteps in THE NAKED GUN, directed by Akiva Schaffer (Saturday Night Live, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping) and from producer Seth MacFarlane (Ted, Family Guy). Joining the case are cast Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, CCH Pounder, Kevin Durand, Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, Eddie Yu, with Danny Huston.
