Superman fans looking out for as many movie tie-ins as possible will want to scope the new collection of variants coming up from DC.

Unless you’ve been living in the Fortress of Solitude at the north pole, you know that there’s a new Superman film hitting theaters this very summer. From director James Gunn, the movie will tentpole the new theatrical DC Universe, and bring a new and decidedly classic-inspired Man of Tomorrow to audiences. And as you also might be all too aware, there’s a ton of merchandise coming along with it.
Some of that merch will be spilling out of the Man of Steel’s original home as well, and we mean the printed page. DC Comics has revealed the Summer of Superman, which will include new tales of the defender of Metropolis, and a totally new ongoing series as well. Now you can add something else to the docket though, in the form of a series of variant covers.
The initiative will see publication between May and June of this year, beginning with the new Supergirl #1, debuting on May 14th. Each image will play off of the upcoming film, and will include a killer array of talent. Fans can look for illustrations from Nicola Scott, Jim Lee, Dan Jurgens, Dan Mora, Jerry Ordway, Jorge Jiménez, Kevin Maguire, and Frank Quitely.
