Marc Spector is back, and ready to roll from Blood Hunt into Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu #1

The dead don’t stay dead in a world with beings like Khonshu. With the Egyptian deity free, Marc Spector finds himself resurrected.

Of gods and Blood

Today marks the release of Blood Hunt #4 from Marvel Comics. The next installment of the massive Blood Hunt crossover event, this new issue sees Egyptian god Khonshu freed and ready to put the hurt on the vampiric hordes.

The deity isn’t doing it himself either, as he’s brought back an army of Moon Knights to assist. If you guessed that’s a catalog that includes one recently deceased Marc Spector, you’d be right. Spector finds himself back int he world of the living once again, and this time he’s looking to hang around.

The big return was a shocking twist in the bloody tale, and it wasn’t the only one. This week, along with Blood Hunt #4, was the surprise “shadow drop” of a special variant cover for the completely unannounced Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu #0. If you didn’t see it, don’t worry, as shops will be getting the full retail version on July 24th (if they order, that is), so you can still get a taste of the series to come, way before it hits.

Speaking of, that first issue will arrive on October 16th, spinning out of writer Jed MacKay and artist Alessandro Cappuccio. If you recognize those names by the way, it’s probably because both were on Moon Knight’s previous series that began in 2021, and Vengeance of the Moon Knight.

So yeah, the creative team has some lunar history.

FULL MOON RISING! As an avatar and agent of the Egyptian God of the Moon, Khonshu, former mercenary Marc Spector has died and come back to life on more than one occasion. To the ignorant, his fate beyond death’s grasp may seem idyllic, but being chosen as a fists of Khonshu comes with a heavy cost!  And, like bones in a street fight, Marc Spector, and the multitudes he contains, may be about to break!

“The father, freed. The son, returned. Marc Spector, Jake Lockley and Stephen Grant hit the streets once more as Moon Knight, and he’s making up for lost time,” MacKay shared. “The streets have changed since Moon Knight died, and I’m excited to explore how he deals with all-new threats to his territory along with fellow Midnight Missionaries Alessandro Cappucio, Rachelle Rosenberg and Devmalya Pramanik! MOON KNIGHT: FIST OF KHONSHU #1 marks the 40th issue of our time with Moon Knight- and we’ve got plenty more that we’re looking forward to sharing with you!”
